The Office of Residence Life at UMass Lowell strongly believes in the importance of professional development and strives to offer opportunities to staff both on and off campus. Our staff has taken advantage of diverse professional development opportunities, and your supervisor will work with you to develop a professional development plan that helps you build the skills that you need for both your current position and beyond!

Departmental Committees

Every professional and graduate staff member will have the opportunity to serve on departmental committees, and professional staff will have the additional opportunity to chair a committee. Committees work to implement many of the larger functions of Residence Life, and staff will be able to gain valuable administrative and leadership experience. Departmental Committees include:

Student Affairs Strategic Infusion Teams

In addition to Residence Life committees, professional staff also have the opportunity to serve on the Division of Student Affairs Strategic Infusion Teams (SIT). Each SIT is focused on a broad topic within student affairs and higher education and serves as a steering force for the division on their respective topics. Strategic Infusion Teams include:

Conferences & Involvement

Each professional staff member is allocated professional development funds to use for conferences or developmental experiences. UMass Lowell Residence Life Staff are involved in many organizations and have attended a variety of conferences, including:
