Move-In Information

Welcome the UMass Lowell Residential Community! We are very excited and have been busy preparing for your arrival. This website will outline everything you need to know to make your move-in day go as smoothly as possible, including when to arrive, how to get here, and what to bring:

Students moving into on campus housing who have not submitted completed health forms (that includes immunization records) will be directed to tables staffed by Wellness Center located on East Campus and South Campus before they will be allowed to move into their room.  Please note the Wellness Center will not be open on Saturday.

UMass Lowell needs this information to comply with Massachusetts Law (105 CMR 220.400/105 CMR 220.600) that requires students attending post-secondary institutions to provide certification of immunization.

Your key will be issued once you have met with staff at Health Services and they issue you a document you must turn into Residence Life staff at your residence hall.  Students who submit their forms in person at the Wellness Center in the days leading up to move in day will receive a document that they can present at residence hall check in so that they may get their key at the time of initial check in.

If you have completed your forms you may turn them in on move in day at the Wellness Center table near Fox Hall or Riverview Suites.

If you have any questions please contact the Office of Residence Life at 978-934-5160 or via e-mail at ResLife@uml.edu. We look forward to seeing you in the Fall!

River Hawks Recycle Right

Rowdy, the University mascot, is seen interacting with students as they move in to their college residences on "Move-In" Day!

Move-In Day on East Campus!

There will be Sutainability Resource Ambassadors wearing bright yellow vests throughout campus to answer any questions you may have. Once you have moved in, please follow these instructions for your waste.

Cardboard Boxes and Styrofoam

1. Separate any Styrofoam found in cardboard boxes or other packaging and give it to a Resource Ambassador or put it next to dumpster, on the grass, or close by. (The Office of Sustainability will be collecting this).

2. Put all other non cardboard materials found in any packaging in a trash dumpster.

3. Break down all cardboard boxes and give them to a Resource Ambassador, or place next to the dumpster (***If you live in Riverhawk Village or Fox Hall- please put the flattened cardboard in the cardboard only dumpster).

Plastic Beverage Bottles - Empty and toss in a recycling container.

All Single Use Plastic Clear Cups - Only the cup is recyclable. Trash the lid, the straw and any liquids inside.

All Single Use Styrofoam or Hot Cups - Empty the contents in the sink and then place in a trash container.

Plastic Trash Bags/Shrink Wrap/Plastic Food Wrappers - Toss in the trash.

By and large, the principal waste streams we see from Move-in consists of cardboard and plastics. When "River Hawks Recycle Right," we ensure that our waste streams have as much clean material as possible. The recycling materials are diverted from the waste stream which decreases our carbon footprint!
