Paying for College — How They Did It

Jessica Tran’s parents encouraged her to become the first in the family to graduate from college but couldn’t help her financially. To make her college dreams a reality, Tran applied for and received financial aid from UMass Lowell.

UMass Lowell is tremendously generous with financial aid. That is important for someone like me who did not come from much.

Not wanting to put a financial burden on his family, Dennis Patel decided to work part-time and help pay for his own education. While at UMass Lowell, he worked at Comcast — first as a sales consultant as an undergrad and then as a vendor management analyst while in graduate school.
