What is EMPOWER?

EMPOWER is community; EMPOWER is support; EMPOWER is you, and us, working together.

Our Commitment to Our Community

EMPOWER is an initiative that focuses on support services and resources for our multicultural constituents: students, families and educators. UMass Lowell (UML) Undergraduate Admissions is committed to providing access and opportunities for all, while actively prioritizing and including the needs of historically underrepresented communities. The principles of diversity, equity and inclusion are embedded in all our efforts and outreach. We strive to engage, educate and empower by going beyond traditional practices and connecting with our community to ensure students’ success and persistence at UMass Lowell.

Visit the Office of Equity & Inclusion to learn more about the university’s commitment to cultivating a climate of respect, dialogue and collaboration.

Our Impact

As a First-gen Forward Advisory Institution, UMass Lowell is proud to be part of a community of professionals that share evidence-based practices and resources, troubleshoot challenges, generate knowledge and continue to advance the success of first-generation students across the country. The Center for First-Generation Student Success is the nation's first recognition program acknowledging higher education institutions for their commitment to first-generation student success.

Upcoming Events

We attend and host many events through the year to support the community, including the CAP/CBO Summit for Educators, focused admissions sessions in Spanish and UML Spotlight Events. You can explore these events and more at the EMPOWER event resource.
