The Asian American Center for Excellence & Engagement (AACEE) is a program office that is dedicated to serving the growing Asian American population at UMass Lowell (UML).

A group of students from The Filipino Club (TFC), which introduces and shares the Filipino culture to the students of UMASS Lowell.

AACEE offers a wide range of resources to address the unique needs of students who identify as Asian American.

Building on the success of the Center for Asian American Studies and the programs offered by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, our center provides a space for students to build community and learn about how they can take advantage of all that UML has to offer.

AACEE's Mission:

  • Understand the financial aid process
  • Access academic support services
  • Find peer mentors and coaches
  • Prepare for future careers
  • Maintain health and wellness
  • Participate in a vibrant community
  • Bridge cultural or language barriers with their families

UMass Lowell and UMass Boston have been awarded a new AANAPISI grant.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded UMass Lowell a $2.5 million grant to support Asian American and Pacific Islander students, most of whom come from Southeast Asian refugee families that have settled in and around Lowell. This builds on UMass Lowell's $1.5 million 2021 grant to launch the center. This allows AACEE to enhance Asian American student success through investments in leadership development, advocacy, career readiness programs, and increasing enrollment for high-need, low-income Asian American students. This grant represents a crucial collaboration between public research universities rooted in two of the largest Southeast Asian American communities in the Northeast. We are honored to be an AANAPISI, as well as a Minority Serving Institution.
