In Prof. Giulia Po DeLisle's Fall 2019 “Advanced Conversation and Composition,” students learned essential vocabulary related to fairy tales, as well as the narrative, dialogic and descriptive features that characterize this genre. Students read a variety of texts, from 17th century Giambattista Basile’s Pentamerone to Roberto Piumini’s modern short fairy tales, understanding writing constructions, rhetorical tools and creative deviations. They later embarked on their writing journey by creating their own fairy tale. The stories featured here are all original, bringing together unique characters, meaningful conflicts and witty resolutions.
