Eligibility Requirements for the Community College Advantage Scholarship (CCAS)

Award: $5,000 annually for a maximum of 2 years.

The Community College Advantage Scholarship has both university-based requirements and terms and conditions set by the UMass President's Office. Students must meet all criteria for the Community College Advantage Scholarship.

UMass Lowell Terms and Conditions

  1. Deadlines
    • Fall semester admission: Apply for admissions by April 1 and, if accepted, submit deposit by July 1.
    • Spring semester admission: Apply for admissions by November 1 and, if accepted, submit deposit by January 1.

  2. Only students enrolled full time in the UMass Lowell (UML) in-person, day school program are eligible. Students attending through the Online and Professional Studies (GPS) program or taking courses through Online and Professional Studies are not eligible for this scholarship.

  3. Renewal Criteria
    • 3.000 Grade Point Average (GPA); maximum four consecutive semesters

  4. Adjustments for Cost of Attendance
    • UMass Lowell may adjust the merit award of recipients who receive additional scholarships, grants or any other educational based funding. If students receive additional merit, athletic-based aid or any other funding towards educational costs, their merit offer will be reduced or cancelled based on the cost of attendance as determined by the Financial Aid Office.

Applicants are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or, if not eligible to complete the FAFSA, complete the Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA) by the UMass Lowell priority deadline March 1.
