We're Hiring Drivers for Fall 2025!

Are you looking to be part of a fun, dynamic team of over 40 fellow drivers? Are looking for a flexible schedule? If so, then the driver position may be exactly what you're looking for. There is no specific license requirement, your regular driver's license will do. See below for additional responsibilities. We look forward to your application!

Transportation Driver job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide excellent customer service to passengers
  • Be a team player
  • Responsible for filling out the pre-driving and post-driving vehicle checklist
  • Complete continuous ridership logs on iPads for each shift
  • Maintain a safe and lawful environment within our university vehicles
  • Riding along with fellow drivers and maintaining order in vehicle
  • Communicate effectively on CB Radios
  • Answering dispatch calls on vehicle radio
  • Assisting during incidents

Drivers are representatives of the university and should always act accordingly.

All university student employees must adhere to the student code of conduct as well as the student employee handbook guidelines both within their functions as employees and outside of these functions on campus. Applicants must demonstrate a positive personality with strong communication skills. As an employee of UMass Lowell Transportation Services, one is expected to act with appropriate decorum, and abide by the policies set forth by the department.

Job Requirements:

  • Pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and driving record check
  • Pass defensive driving skills course
  • Possession of a U.S. driver's license for a least 1 year

CDL Training

Did you know we have an in-house Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training program? Earn your CDL class C while having fun with your team mates! Our larger 25 and 30 passenger shuttles require a CDL. A regular drivers license is all that’s required to drive our classic shuttles.
