Transportation Information

The Office of Transportation Services designs its routes to efficiently transport students, staff, faculty and university community members between campus locations. 

Summer and Fall 2017 Information

Summer Service:

The LRTA free ride program will continue during the summer! Show your UCARD to access the LRTA! Starting June 1 LRTA line 6, 7, and 9 will all stop on Salem St, in front of the Salem St. bus stop.

UMass Lowell Transportation Services will close on May 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Limited campus shuttle service will be provided from May 8 - May 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Transportation Services will close for the summer on May 12 at 5 p.m. and reopen in late August. During the summer, you can use the LRTA,Free Wheelers, and Walking Maps to get around campus.

Community members also have access to Zip Car, MassRIDES, and a variety hailing services that work in the area.

We are already looking at fall 2017! Transportation Services will be making several changes to its service as a result of some changes at the university.

Green Line:

Service to East Meadow Lane apartment will end on the last day of spring 2017 finals. East Meadow Lane apartments will not be serviced in the fall. Students who current reside in that area can you the LRTA to connect to North Campus.

Purple Line and Ayotte Garage:

Parking for Freshmen and Sophomore North Campus majors will be relocated to 1001 Pawtucket Blvd. The Purple Line will go from 1001 Pawtucket Blvd to North Campus, starting the first day of Fall 2017 classes. Purple Line will no longer go to East Campus University Suites or Ayotte Garage, and will end the last day of Spring 2017 finals.

Transportation Schedule

  • Starting January 15, UMass Lowell will be partnering with the LRTA and MVRTA, students and employees will now be able to ride all LRTA buses and routes 01/41 on the MVRTA for FREE! All you have to do is show your UCARD. For more information go to Announcements.

LRTA is now stopping at University Crossing on Salem Street! Catch Route 7 to get downtown or to the train station.
