Remote Events

Remote Events

All on-campus University events (internal and external) are cancelled thru December 1, 2020 or updated to reflect a change to virtual/remote meetings.
Here to Assist You
Though the Fall of 2020 may look different on campus, Hospitality & Events Services is still here to assist in making your remote events a success!
With regard to COVID19 (Coronavirus), we are closely following the guidance of the Governor’s Office, U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Mass. Department of Public Health (MPH). As CDC guidance changes, so will the university’s response.

What is a remote event?

A  “Remote Event” takes place online in the form of video and audio conferencing, collaborations, chats, and webinars to be accessed by mobile devices, desktops, telephones, and room systems. There are two types of remote events that Hospitality & Event Services recommend: a remote meeting or a remote webinar.

Remote Meeting versus Remote Webinar

A remote meeting should be used when “hosting more interactive sessions where you’ll want to have lots of audience participation or break your session into smaller groups” (Zoom).
A remote webinar format should be used for “large audiences or events that are open to the public such as a town hall” (Zoom).
