As the only public institution in New England with a nuclear reactor on campus, UMass Lowell offers an affordable pathway to build experience and expertise in power plant safety, radiation shielding and protection, advanced radiation detectors, nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear safeguards and modeling and simulation of the nuclear fuel cycle. This option is offered through the Chemical Engineering Department.
