BLA Concentration in Disability Studies

The BLA concentration in Disability Studies offers students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of disability from multiple perspectives. This concentration helps prepare students who are interested in a career in education, human services, social work, non-profit organizations, engineering/assistive technology, nursing, health, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and many other areas.

A minimum of 18 credits of course work is required, 9 credits of which must be at the 3000 level, with no more than three courses with the same prefix.

  • LGST.2500 Disability and the Law
  • PHIL.3150 Philosophy of Disability
  • PSYC.3620 Psychology of Developmental Disabilities
  • PSYC.4820 Developmental Disabilities Fieldwork: Service Provision
  • PSYC.4830 Developmental Disabilities Fieldwork: Leadership & Advocacy
  • SOCI.2250 Sociology of Disability

Elective Courses (6cr.)

Choose two Elective courses from any of the Core courses listed above or any of the following courses:
