Apply for Emerging Scholars 2026-2027

Housed in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (FAHSS), the Emerging Scholars program is managed by a group of FAHSS faculty members and supported by the Center for Community Research and Engagement (CCRE).

Emerging Scholars provides students with a unique year-long opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge gained from courses at UMass Lowell to a faculty member’s ongoing research while enhancing knowledge of research methods, technical skills and research presentation.

Working collaboratively with a faculty partner allows students to gain a unique learning experience unlike any they will receive in a classroom as well as to work one-on-one with a faculty mentor.

The Emerging Scholars Program presents an invaluable opportunity for meaningful student engagement in research activities. Not only will participation enhance students’ credentials but it will be especially valuable for those students who wish to pursue graduate-level education. Students who apply to this exciting program will develop research skills that will help them in academia and beyond!
