Opened in 2002, the 65,000-square-foot Campus Recreation Center (CRC) is a state-of-the-art recreational facility designed to meet the needs of the UMass Lowell campus community.
The Campus Recreation Center (CRC) is open to all full-time students, faculty and staff at no additional charge. Membership options are also available to alumni and immediate family members of alumni, faculty and staff who are 18 years or older. Take a virtual tour of the CRC.
At our main welcome desk patrons can checkout equipment at no additional charge with their ID. Checkout items include towels, locks, basketballs, soccer balls and mini nets, footballs, racquetball and squash equipment, ping pong and pool equipment, lap counters, weight belts, jump ropes, foam rollers and other fitness equipment. At our Aiken Street Welcome Desk patrons can also sign up for membership and programs.
Main Fitness Center
Our two floor 7,500 square foot Fitness Center is outfitted with a variety of training equipment for all of your fitness needs. Our state of the art resistance training area includes 20+ pieces of free weight pieces and 20+ selectorized pieces from major brands such as Cybex, Life Fitness, and Matrix. Our second floor contains over 40+ pieces of cardio equipment including stair climbers, treadmills, exercise bikes, and a variety of elliptical machines.
Atrium Fitness Center
After a renovation in the 2019, we have opened our 1,250 square foot facility located at the main entrance of the Campus Recreation Center. Our newest facility is equipped with various cardio training equipment as well as an assortment of strength training equipment. This space allows for members to get a quick workout in a smaller, more private environment.
Three multipurpose courts are utilized for basketball, volleyball and badminton. The courts are also used for Intramural Sports competitions and Club Sport practices and games. View the online schedule.
Two aerobic studios are located on the second floor of the CRC. Both studios have state-of-the-art sound systems. Group fitness classes are held year round and are free to all of our patrons. Class formats include zumba, kickboxing, spin, yoga, insanity, strength, tabata, abs and more! Just show up a few minutes before each class starts, no need to register! The track is 1/10 of a mile with sloped corners to assist runners as they make turns. A large digital clock is visible around the track and lap counters can be checked out for free at our Welcome Desk. The track direction alternates daily. Walkers are asked to stay on the inside lanes and runners should use the outside lanes. Signage is located on track with all track policies.
Squash & Racquetball Courts
Two racquetball courts and one squash court are available for recreational use. Each court has glass back walls so action can be viewed from both the first and second floor of the CRC. All racquetball participants must wear eye protection. We have wallyball equipment available for checkout at our welcome desk that can be used inside either of our racquetball courts.
Faculty, staff, students and paid CRC members can reserve a racquetball or squash court online with the appropriate links listed above or they can call the Campus Recreation Center directly at 978-934-5080 to make their reservation.
Please note: Limit one hour each day per person, and reservations can only be made one day in advance.
Locker room facilities are available to all patrons of the Campus Recreation Center. There are bathrooms, lockers, showers and a sauna located inside the men's and women's locker rooms. Daily lockers are for day use only. Locks not removed by the end of each day will be removed and any items collected from inside the locker will be placed in our lost and found.
