Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Student Emergency Grants

The University of Massachusetts Lowell received federal funds under the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to provide emergency grant aid to students. The purpose of these funds is to assist students in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The relief funding was distributed to the university in three separate funding streams:

  1. HEERF-I – Coronavirus, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, signed into law on March 27, 2020.
  2. HEERF-II – Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), signed into law on December 27, 2020.
  3. HEERF-III – American Rescue Plan (ARP), signed into law on March 11, 2021.
