Health care professionals are leaving the workforce at alarming rates, driven in part by burnout, stress and unsafe working conditions. Chronic understaffing and rising job demands are increasing the risk of injury and poor mental health among caregivers across the health care sector.

Through decades of research applying the Total Worker Health® approach, the Center for the Promotion of Health in the New England Workplace (CPH-NEW) has shown that participatory workplace programs strengthen healthcare worker health, satisfaction, and retention—creating workplaces that thrive for both people and organizations.
