Honors Course Requirements

The Honors College has eight Honors Curriculum Requirements which are detailed in the following table. Students must earn a B or better in an Honors Course in order for it to count towards their H1-H8 requirements.

H1First Year Seminar in Honors (FYSH)
If necessary, this may be replaced by taking a dedicated honors AH/SS core curriculum course.
H2An honors section of College Writing II
If necessary, this may be replaced by taking a dedicated honors AH/SS core curriculum course.
H3Any upper-level Honors Seminar
H4Either:
  • Any dedicated Honors course
  • An Honors Experiential Learning Opportunity
H5Either:
  • Any dedicated Honors course
  • An Honors-By-Contract with a non-honors 3000/4000 level course
  • An Honors Experiential Learning Opportunity
H6Either:
  • Any 2000/3000/4000-level dedicated Honors course
  • An Honors-By-Contract with a non-honors 3000/4000 level course
  • An Honors Experiential Learning Opportunity (Students may not use more than two Experiential Learning Opportunities to satisfy the H4/H5/H6)
  • A graduate course
H7Either:
  • A course that supports the first half of a two-semester Honors Project or Thesis
  • A 3000/4000 level dedicated honors course
  • A graduate course
H8Either:
  • A course that supports the second half of a two-semester Honors Project or Thesis
  • A course that supports a one-semester Honors Project
