Prepare for roles as healthcare managers, health informatics managers and policy professionals.

Online Program Designed for Working Professionals

Information technology pervades every aspect of healthcare delivery today, providing access to rich and voluminous data. However, organizations need professionals to turn that data into meaningful actions that can improve quality of care and reduce costs.

Advance your career by earning a Master's in Health Information Management at UMass Lowell. The 100% online program is taught by faculty with expertise and experience in healthcare, data management and technology. You’ll be in high demand for roles in healthcare management, health informatics and policy development.

Which Degree Option is Right for You?

We offer two degree options:

  • Health Service Management: Learn to make administrative decisions based upon sound policies, resource utilization, planning principles and analytical techniques to deliver quality patient care. Promote a satisfying and rewarding work environment for all levels of staff within the healthcare organization.
  • Health Informatics: Massive amounts of data can effect health policy and healthcare delivery. Coursework emphasizes information management and the ways in which health and computer sciences are coupled with resources and integrated into the management of healthcare for clinical, financial or analytical purposes.

Learn Skills to Improve Quality of Care

While more technical or business-focused programs teach students how to crunch numbers to improve the bottom line, UMass Lowell’s program also teaches these skills to improve the quality of healthcare provided to patients.

Developed by faculty in the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences Department of Public Health, the courses draw upon the expertise of industry experts through an organizational affiliation with Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
