Graduate masters co-op in engineering

The Francis College of Engineering offers a Graduate Master’s Cooperative Education Option (Co-Op) in the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) programs in Chemical, Civil and Environmental, Computer, Electrical, Energy (Nuclear and Solar), Mechanical, and Plastics Engineering, and the Master of Science programs in Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology, Engineering Management, and Environmental Engineering Studies.

All full-time, matriculated, non-thesis, non-research/teaching assistant, master’s level students in their first semester of graduate level master’s degree studies in one of the programs noted are eligible to apply.

Fall 2022 Applicants

  • September 15 - Information session
  • December 30, 2022 at noon EST - Application deadline (Graduate Master’s Co-op Option in Engineering Application)
  • January 10, 2023 - Decision letter sent
  • Spring 2023 Semester - If accepted, students will enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6020 Graduate Professional Development for Engineers
  • January 2023 through May/July 2023 - Conduct search for Co-op Work Experience
  • Spring 2023/ Summer 2023 - Accept Co-op Work Experience offer
  • May/June 2023 through Dec 2023 - If Co-op is identified, students will enroll with a permission number; Participate in ENGN.6030 Graduate Co-op Work Experience
  • If three-month summer Co-op: April 3, 2023 - Register for Fall 2023 courses (students will enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6040 Workforce Development if Electrical, Computer or Nuclear Engineering major)
  • If six-month summer / fall Co-op: October 20, 2023 - Register for spring 2023 courses (students will enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6040 Workforce Development if Electrical, Computer or Nuclear Engineering major)
  • January 16, 2024 - Return to campus for final semester

Spring 2022 Applicants

  • January 20 - Information Session
  • May 22 at Noon EST - Application Deadline
  • July 1 - Decision letter sent
  • Fall 2022 Semester - If accepted, students will enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6020
  • September - December 2022 - Conduct search for Co-op Work Experience
  • Spring 2023 or Spring / Summer 2023 - If Co-op is identified, students will enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6030
  • If Spring 2023 Co-op - Register with a permission number for ENGN.6040 (if Nuclear, Electrical or Computer Engineering) in April 2023 for Fall 2023
  • If Spring / Summer 2023 Co-op - Register with a permission number for ENGN.6040 (if Nuclear, Electrical or Computer Engineering) in August 2023 for Fall 2023.
  • September 2023 - return to campus for final semester.
