Graduate masters co-op in engineering

The Francis College of Engineering offers a Graduate Master’s Cooperative Education Option (Co-Op) in the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) programs in Chemical, Civil and Environmental, Computer, Electrical, Energy (Nuclear and Solar), Mechanical, and Plastics Engineering, and the Master of Science programs in Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology, Engineering Management, and Environmental Engineering Studies.

All full-time, matriculated, non-thesis, non-research/teaching assistant, master’s level students in their first semester of graduate level master’s degree studies in one of the programs noted are eligible to apply.

Fall 2023 Applicants

  • September 19 - MS Welcome Event, 4 p.m. in Saab ETIC
  • December 28, 2023 at noon EST - Application deadline (Graduate Master’s Co-op Option in Engineering Application)
  • January 8, 2024 - Decision letter sent
  • Spring 2024 Semester - If accepted, students will enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6020 Graduate Professional Development for Engineers
  • January - May 2024 - Conduct search for Co-op Work Experience
  • Spring 2024/ Summer 2024 - Accept Co-op Work Experience offer
  • June through August / December 2024 - If Co-op is identified, students will enroll with a permission number; participate in ENGN.6030 Graduate Co-op Work Experience
  • If three-month summer Co-op: April 3, 2024 - Register for Fall 2024 courses (students will enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6040 Workforce Development if Electrical, Computer or Nuclear Engineering)
  • If six-month spring/summer Co-op: October 2024 - Register for Spring 2025 courses.
  • Students required to enroll with a permission number in ENGN.6040 Workforce Development if an Electrical, Computer or Nuclear Engineering student.
  • September 2024/January 2025 - Return to campus for final semester
