Post-Baccalaureate Certificate programs are for students who have received their bachelor’s degree but want to complete or improve their performance in the required pre-requisite courses for furthering their education in the medical or dental field.

Our post-baccalaureate certificates are designed to help you successfully apply to dental school, medical school and physician assistant programs.

The Pre-Dental Post-Baccalaureate Certificate is intended to give students who possess a baccalaureate degree the opportunity to complete or improve their performance in courses required to apply to dental school. The application is now open. If you are ready to apply for a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, the information you need is just a few clicks away.

Each student will receive:

  • One-on-one advising on course selection to tailor the certificate to their individual needs
  • One-on-one advising for DAT prep
  • Guidance on writing their personal statement and on other aspects of a successful application

A committee letter is offered to students who complete the certificate and apply to dental school.

How to Apply

Considerations

  • Courses must be completed within a five-year period.
  • All certificate classes must be taken at UMass Lowell (UML), no transfer credits will be accepted.
  • Courses may not be applied to another graduate program.

Complete the UMass Lowell application for admission, selecting the "Post-Baccalaureate Certificate" option. 

In addition, your completed application package will include:

  1. Non-refundable application fee of $70
  2. Official Academic Record(s)

    1. Official college transcript with degree posted
    2. Materials required for students who attended a college or university outside of the United States:
      1. If English is not your first language and/or the language of instruction at your prior institution was not English, official results from an English language equivalency exam are required:
      2. Students who have completed the equivalent of UMass Lowell College Writing I and College Writing II with a C- or better do not need to submit English language exam results.
      3. All transcripts from international institutions must be evaluated course-by-course by World Education Services (WES).
        • Note: UMass Lowell requires TWO transcripts, one official transcript and one evaluated by World Education Services.
