The Elevate Mentoring Program helps RHSA students build meaningful connections with UMass Lowell faculty and staff mentors who offer guidance, encouragement, and perspective throughout the college journey. Students are matched with a mentor for the academic year based on their goals, interests and the kind of support they are looking for.
Who Should Join?
Elevate is a great fit for RHSA students in their second year and beyond who want to:
- Build a supportive connection with a UML faculty or staff member
- Receive one-on-one guidance from someone who understands the college experience
- Talk through academic, career, or personal goals
- Explore majors, careers, internships, graduate school, or life after graduation
- Strengthen confidence, self-advocacy, and decision-making skills
- Stay connected to campus resources, opportunities, and support
What Mentors Can Help With:
- Navigate college expectations and transitions
- Think through challenges and opportunities
- Explore future goals and possible career paths
- Build confidence in asking questions and seeking support
- Prepare for next steps at UML and beyond
How Matching Works:
Students complete a brief application sharing what they hope to gain from mentoring. Matches may consider:
- Academic background or degree area
- Career field or professional experience
- Personal interests and goals
- Preferred mentoring style
