First-gen Forward is the nation's first recognition program acknowledging higher education institutions for their commitment to first-generation student success. As a First-Gen Forward Advisory Institution, UMass Lowell is proud to be part of a community of professionals that share evidence-based practices and resources, troubleshoot challenges, generate knowledge, and continue to advance the success of first-generation students across the country.

Campus Compact is a coalition of colleges and universities across the United States dedicated to advancing the public purposes of over 1,000 colleges and universities by deepening their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility. The River Hawk Scholars Academy is proud to host a Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA member.

We are proud to be a 2021 winner of the Cummings Foundation $25 Million Grant Program. The Cummings $25 Million Grant Program supports Massachusetts nonprofits that are based in and primarily serve Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties. Through this place-based initiative, Cummings Foundation aims to give back in the area where it owns commercial buildings.
