After more than $1 million worth of renovations, this state-of-the-art venue is home to the UMass Lowell Rowing team and UMass Lowell Kayak Center. Additionally, this facility can host family gatherings, birthday parties, weddings and corporate outings that can include National Park boat tours of the river or canals and other private functions. Other tenants in the UMass Lowell Bellegarde Boathouse include Lowell High School Rowing and the Merrimack River Rowing Association.
The summer Kayak Center offers educational and recreational kayaking opportunities to the UMass Lowell community and greater public. At the Kayak Center you can rent kayaks, canoes or stand up paddle boards and we provide instructional courses for adults and children of all skill levels. Rowing is a sport that can be picked up by anyone at any time. The UMass Lowell Bellegarde Boathouse boasts a fleet ranging from single-person recreational boats to 8-person racing boats, and everything in between. The boathouse is also home to the UMass Lowell Rowing Team ;- A competitive team for full-time UMass Lowell students. The rental area is limited to the 2,000-square-foot deck overlooking the river. Special permission may be granted for excursion boats to land on the docks to drop off or pick up passengers.
