Welcome to the UMass Lowell Kayak Center!
Ready for 2026! We are open June 12 through August 30, 2026, plus Saturdays in September!
The UMass Lowell (UML) Kayak Center is happy to be open to the public as well as the UML community! We offer:
- Kayak, Canoe, or Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) rentals: Available during our open hours by walk-up or reservation! On-land instruction provided to everyone. Beginners welcome! Or, use our upstream shuttle service which includes rentals. We also offer season and monthly passes as a great way to regularly enjoy the river!
- Group tours or classes with a guide: Join our regular sunset paddle tours, or join an instructional tour in either our Kayak Basics class or Intro to Kayaking class.
- Custom guided group tours are available for you and your family, friends or colleagues! All available with a reservation.
Paddle on down!
We are open to the public as well as the UML community every season. All rates include paddles, life jackets (Personal Flotation Devices - PFDs) and basic safety instruction.
Rentals by the hour

Waivers are required for all participants.

- Custom Guided Groups Form: Available at most times June 15 through September.
- Kayak Center Rentals Inquiry Form: Available during the season's open hours, from June 12 through August 30, and Saturdays in September. Rental requests outside of our season or normal rental hours will not be possible.
