Biosketch
Astika Tyagi is a Clean Energy and Environment Legacy Transition (CELT) fellow at the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability and a master's student in data science at Boston University. Her research focuses on residential heat pump adoption and building electrification in Massachusetts, using municipal energy, housing, and weather datasets to understand the factors driving the transition from heating oil to electric heat pumps. By integrating Mass Save program data, United States census housing data, electricity consumption, and climate metrics, she develops data-driven models to identify patterns in heat pump adoption and support evidence-based decarbonization strategies. Astika is passionate about applying data science, machine learning, and geospatial analytics to advance sustainable energy systems and climate policy.
