The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is committed to student success and retention, within active, vibrant communities where students learn together, support each other, and seek opportunities to grow and thrive. Our programs center academic excellence, resource utilization, self-discovery, professional pathway development, and community care.

Mission

The mission of the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is to support and enhance student success and retention through our wide variety of programs, initiatives, and services that allow students to build their individualized pathway to success within the classroom and beyond.

OMA provides wrap-around services to support student's success and development by supporting the five dimensions of well-being outlined by our office:

Core Functions and Areas

OMA supports all students at UMass Lowell. We welcome you to engage with our programs, services, or connect with us to learn more!

  • Promoting student success and community building through our Rising 360° program
  • Enhancing undergraduate success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through our Rising 360°, STEM Training and Excellence Program
  • Providing wrap-around services and supports to international students that ensure students feel welcomed, informed, and connected
  • Empowering student's and their development of leadership skills through Peer Leader opportunities in our Rising 360° program
  • Supporting the development of professional skills and career connected experiences through student employment, and practicum experiences
  • Host various programs, community engagement events, and resource utilization through our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, or Queer+ (LGBTQ+) Resource Center
  • Providing success coaching for student to support and enhance their academic progress and success
  • Partnering with College Access Programs to provide on campus retention support
  • Bringing awareness to various Heritage months and celebrations
  • Providing community and study spaces on campus through our Social Justice Center and LGBTQ+ Resource Center
