Eduroam Network Connection

Note: If you have the “Stolen Device Protection” feature enabled on your iOS device, you may see a screen to Begin Security Delay to Install Profile. This is part of the Stolen Device Protection service and it will require you to wait one hour before proceeding. If you see this screen, click Start Security Delay to begin the one hour delay.

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

1. Open Settings and use the search bar to search for the word “Profiles”.
2. In the search results, tap UML eduroam Configuration, and click Remove Profile. You may be prompted to confirm the removal and enter your UMass Lowell email and password. 

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

1. Connect to the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network.
2. Open the Safari browser and navigate to uml.edu/eduroam-connect. Note: You must use the Safari browser to complete these steps.
3. Log in with your UMass Lowell email and password.
4. Tap Install eduroam Profile and then tap Allow when prompted.
5. Once the profile has been downloaded, close Safari and open Settings.
6. Tap Profile Downloaded at the top or at the side of your settings, tap Install on the next several screens, and then tap Done after the profile installation is finished. You may be prompted to enter your device passcode or username/password during this process.
7. Now go back to your Wi-Fi settings, forget the UMassLowell network, and then connect to eduroam to complete the setup process.

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

1. Open Settings and use the search bar to search for the word “Profiles”.
2. In the search results, select UML eduroam Configuration Profile, click the minus-sign (“-“) at the bottom of the window, then confirm the removal.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

1. Click on the WiFi ‘fan’ icon in the menu bar and connect to the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network.
2. Open the Safari browser and navigate to uml.edu/eduroam-connect. Note: You must use the Safari browser to complete these steps.
3. Log in with your UMass Lowell email and password.
4. Click the Install Profile button, which will begin a download.
5. Once the file has been downloaded, open the file. You will see an alert that you need to review the profile in System Settings.
6. Open Settings and use the search bar to search for the word “Profiles”.
7. In the search results, double-click on UML eduroam Configuration Profile, then click Install. You may be prompted to click Install an additional time and provide your email and password.
8. Click on the WiFi ‘fan’ icon in the menu bar and connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network.
9. Click on the WiFi ‘fan’ icon in the menu bar and select Wi-Fi Settings, then click the 3 dots next to UMassLowell and select Forget this network. You may be prompted to confirm this action.

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

1. Right-click on the WiFi ‘fan’ icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and select Network and internet settings.
2. Click Wi-Fi, then Manage known networks.
3. Find eduroam in the list and click the Forget button next to eduroam.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

1. Click on the network ‘globe’ or Wi-Fi ‘fan’ icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and click the “>” next to the Wi-Fi connections.
2. Select the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network and click Connect.
3. Open your web browser and navigate to uml.edu/eduroam-connect.
4. Log in with your UMass Lowell email and password.
5. Click Start QuickConnect, which will download the ArubaQuickConnect program.
6. Once the program has been downloaded, run ArubaQuickConnect. If a prompt appears asking for permission to run, click Run. If a prompt appears saying Windows protected your PC, click More Info and then Run Anyway.
7. When the program loads, click Next and wait for a prompt asking you to confirm that you want to install the certificate. Click Yes.
8. When this is finished, click Connect and wait for the program to connect you to eduroam.
   Note: If ArubaQuickConnect seems to be stuck on this step (“Authentication in progress…”) or it reports that it failed:
   a). Click on the network ‘globe’ or Wi-Fi ‘fan’ icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and click the “>” symbol next to the Wi-Fi fan icon.
   b). Select the eduroam Wi-Fi network and click Connect.
   c). If prompted to select a certificate, choose the first one on the list with your UML email address and click Connect.
9. Right-click on the WiFi ‘fan’ icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and select Network and internet settings.
10. Click Wi-Fi, then Manage known networks.
11. Find UMassLowell in the list and click the Forget button next to UMassLowell.
    
    

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

1. Navigate to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
2. Tap the 3-dot menu in the upper right and select Advanced settings.
3. Tap Manage networks, select eduroam, then tap Forget or Remove.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

1. Connect to the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network.
2. Uninstall the ClearPass QuickConnect app if it is already installed on your device.
3. Install the ClearPass QuickConnect app from the Google Play Store.
4. When the install has finished, launch the app. You will be prompted to allow the app access to various device attributes. You must accept all of these requests in order for the app to function properly. The app is only required for the initial setup and can be uninstalled after the setup process is complete.
5. After accepting the prompts, open Google Chrome and navigate to uml.edu/eduroam-connect.
6. Log in with your UMass Lowell email and password.
7. Tap I've already installed QuickConnect and then tap Install Network Profile.
8. Once the file has finished downloading, tap Open, which will automatically open the file in the QuickConnect app and configure your device.
9. Once the QuickConnect app has finished setting up the profile, it will automatically connect you to eduroam to complete the setup process.
   Note: If your device does not automatically connect to eduroam, select it from the list of Wi-Fi networks, then long-press on the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network and select Forget.

There are no ‘forget’ instructions for a Chromebook.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

1. Click the Home button at the bottom left corner of the screen. Next, search for Settings, then click Settings when the option appears.
2. Click Network, then click Wi-Fi.
3. Click eduroam.
4. You will be prompted to specify information about the network:
   a). Under the "EAP method" drop-down menu, select PEAP.
   b). Under the "EAP Phase 2 authentication" drop-down menu, select MSCHAPv2.
   c).Under the "Server CA certificate" drop-down menu, select Do not check.
5. In the "Identity" field, enter your UMass Lowell email address. In the "Password" field, enter your UMass Lowell account password. Lastly, click Connect.

To connect a Linux device to eduroam

1. Click the 'WiFi' icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
   • Note: If you are a visitor or guest to UMass Lowell (i.e., not faculty, staff, or student), please see the instructions for accessing the UMass Lowell guest wireless network.
2. Click the wireless option, select 'eduroam' from the list of wireless networks, and click 'Configure'.
   • Note: If you see any security warnings during these steps, tap 'Continue' or 'Accept'.
3. In the 'Join Wi-Fi network' screen, enter the following:
   • In the 'EAP method' menu, select 'PEAP'.
   • In the 'Phase 2 authentication' menu, select 'MSCHAPv2'.
   • In the 'Server CA certificate' menu, select 'Do not check'.
   • Enter your UMass Lowell credentials (your full UMass Lowell email address and password) in the 'Identity' and 'Password' fields, respectively.
4. Click 'Connect' to complete the connection.
5. If this does not work, please run updates on your system and then reboot.

Game consoles, streaming devices and any other Wi-Fi enabled device not listed above do not connect to eduroam and instead are connected through the My Devices Portal. Instructions for each of these devices can be found on our Wired Internet and MAC Address Page.
