The U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program is a diverse group of men and women with more than 20,000 cadets currently enrolled nationwide. Army ROTC produces approximately 70% of the second lieutenants who join the active Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard.
More than 40% of current active-duty Army general officers were commissioned through Army ROTC. The UMass Lowell Army ROTC graduates will have completed both the basic and advanced courses in military skills and fundamentals of leadership, advanced military tactics and decision-making, as well as planning and team organization.
The cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army and will enter either active duty, the National Guard or the Army Reserve in diverse careers such as aviation, air defense artillery, engineer, signal, military police, finance, chaplain, medical services, chemical, military intelligence, ordinance and acquisition. The Bay State Battalion Army ROTC program, chaired by MAJ Daniel Challas Gimm, will commission one second lieutenant from the Class of 2026.
