Learn About Our Program Learning Outcomes

Campus Recreation is more than a place to be active—it is an opportunity for students to learn, grow, connect, and thrive. Whether participating in a fitness class, competing in intramural or club sports, exploring the outdoors, or simply enjoying recreational activities with others, students gain valuable experiences that will contribute to their overall success and well-being at UMass Lowell and beyond.

Below are five learning outcomes we believe students will gain through their experiences with Campus Recreation:

Students learn strategies that foster active, balanced, and healthy living and identify recreation facilities and programs that enhance their lifelong wellness journey to improve their physical and mental well-being.

Students engage respectfully and inclusively with peers from diverse backgrounds and recognize how participation in recreation programs fosters connection, belonging, and engagement within the UMass Lowell community.

Students apply teamwork, communication, and leadership skills through participation in recreation programs while contributing positively to group goals in competitive, cooperative, and experiential settings.

Students develop and apply technical and soft skills relevant to their area of participation in Campus Recreation, gaining increased confidence and competence in physical, recreational, interpersonal, and technical skill sets.

Students engage in recreational activities that promote joy, play, and stress relief, while fostering positive and memorable experiences that support well-being, balance, and lifelong participation in active, healthy lifestyles.
