Want to Become a Peer Leader?

Are you a RHSA first-year student interested in becoming a Peer Leader? To be eligible for this role, you must participate in the Teradyne Spring Active Immersion in Leadership (SAIL) Program. The program is also open to upperclassmen who wish to enhance their leadership skills.

RHSA students accepted into the SAIL Leadership Program will be eligible to apply to become Peer Leaders for the next cohort of RHSA students. 

Program Benefits:

  • Participants will gain leadership techniques, expand their professional network, and cultivate personal growth through structured workshops.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a scholarship applied directly to their spring tuition bill.

Program Purpose

The SAIL Leadership Program is designed to:
  • Introduce RHSA students to core leadership concepts and skills. 
  • Improve RHSA students' ability to collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Increase RHSA students' familiarity with campus resources and their benefits.
  • Connect RHSA students with the overall mission of the Academy and with the current RHSA community.
  • Foster personal growth and reflective practices for future leadership roles.
  • Reflect on what RHSA students have learned and apply what they have learned to future leadership opportunities.

Learning Outcomes

By completing the program, participants will:
  • Strengthen their leadership skills.
  • Identify personal strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Readily identify University resources and their significance.
  • Develop a foundation within the RHSA community.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate, you must:
  • Meet all Fall RHSA first-year requirements.
  • Commit to attending all fourleadership training workshops held on Wednesdays from 5:30-7 p.m.: 
    • Dates: February 5, 12, 19, and 26 (snow date: March 12)
  • Complete the SAIL Leadership Final Project.
  • Participate in a mid-semester 1 hour focus group with the RHSA team to reflect on your learning and its application. 
  • Fulfill RHSA engagement requirements (attend and reflect on a minimum of 2 RHSA events during the semester, meet with your Peer Leader at least twice, and meet at least once with your Faculty Advocate).
  • Sign the RHSA Scholarship Agreement, committing to all program requirements.

Preferred for Eligibility

  • Minimum 2.500 GPA for Fall 2024 semester (see the application for an additional question if your GPA was below 2.5).

Timeline

  • Tuesday, November 26 - Application opens
  • Friday, December 13 - Priority applications deadline (first come, first served)
  • Sunday, January 26 - Final application deadline
  • Leadership sessions & requirements:
    • Four 90-minute sessions weekly in February (see above) from 5:30-7 p.m.
    • Focus Group with RHSA Team member-early March
  • Thursday, February 1 - Peer Leader application opens
  • Saturday, March 16 - Peer Leader applications due
  • April 8-12 - Interviews for selected candidates
  • Friday, April 19 - Peer Leader application decisions announced
  • April 29-May 3 - New Peer Leader gathering
