Promoting An Inclusive Departmental Climate
- Guide to writing a code of conduct. Project Include provides some guidance and considerations regarding how to set the norms for diversity and inclusion.
- Sample codes of conduct from other U.S. universities:
- Breaking Barriers and Creating Inclusiveness (pdf). Diana Bilimoria, Simy Joy, and Xiangfen Liang draw experiences from 19 U.S. universities, funded by National Science Foundation ADVANCE IT grants, and describe the facilitating factors, program initiatives, institutionalization, and outcomes of their transformation, and suggest a transformation model.
- Equity Diversity, and Inclusion: Inclusive Language Guidelines (pdf). The American Psychological Association has proposed guidelines aiming to raise awareness, guide learning, and support the use of culturally sensitive terms and phrases that center the voices and perspectives of those who are often marginalized or stereotyped.
