Our mission is to provide students with superior music education that will prepare them for meaningful careers in the profession. The Music Department is one of the largest departments in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Learn more.

  • Kripa Joseph
    Peace and Conflict Studies

    Honors student Kripa Joseph is earning her B.A. and M.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies in four years, while minoring in music and pursuing internships that promote diversity and respect among cultures.

    Music Education

    When music education major Joshua Santana teaches local grade-schoolers to play violin through the university’s String Project, he connects with them because he was once in their shoes.

  • Thomas McGurk
    Music

    A graduate of the Sound Recording Technology Program, Thomas McGurk '91 owns his own studio and is a seven-time Emmy award winner.

  • Maddie May Scott
    Music Performance & World Languages

    During her final semester at UMass Lowell, Maddie May Scott’s band was invited by rock royalty Melissa Etheridge to join the all-star lineup playing on Etheridge’s annual seven-night spring cruise.
