Performance Calendar

The Department of Music at UMass Lowell offers a number of performances each semester. Most are free and open to the public, with free general and handicapped-accessible parking nearby. Fisher and Durgin Concert Halls are both located in Durgin Hall on UMass Lowell's South Campus. Durgin Concert Hall is on the first floor, Fisher Recital Hall is on the lower level. Occasionally it is necessary to change the date or time of a scheduled concert, so if you are traveling a distance, feel free to call the Music Office at 978-934-3850 to confirm the event day and time.

    Deep Blue C Studio Orchestra is a studio orchestra made up of woodwinds, brass, percussion and strings as in a symphony orchestra. It also includes a rhythm section of guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and drum set as in a jazz combo or show orchestra. It often includes vocalists as well. Free and open to the public.

    Known for his compelling renditions, using imaginative programming, Orlando has premiered over 200 works, both as a flutist and as a conductor, to rave reviews from the media from the Boston Globe to the  Oregon ArtsWatch. In concert, Mr. Cela regularly offers short lively introductions to selected works, providing  audiences with entry points into unfamiliar works, so that listeners can easily connect the music with other life experience. Free and open to the public.

    In collaboration with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, the University choirs will perform Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and John Adams Harmonium. Free and open to the public.

    A celebrated source of innovation, inspiration, education and entertainment since 1923, Symphony New Hampshire is the premiere symphony orchestra of the Granite State. From its humble beginnings over 95 years ago as a mainly all-Nashua musician group that performed two concerts each season in the City of Nashua, the orchestra has since grown into a vibrant jewel in the cultural crown of New Hampshire. Today, concerts are offered not only in Nashua, but throughout Southern New Hampshire and in special performances around the region.
