During the second year, students learn the principles of engineering mechanics, strength of materials and surveying. Junior and senior year course work gives students a working knowledge of environmental, structural, geotechnical and transportation engineering. Engineering design concepts and computer proficiency, including computer-aided drafting and computer-aided engineering are integrated throughout the program.
The program culminates in a senior Capstone Design course which incorporates a multi-discipline, team approach towards the design and construction of a real-world Civil Engineering project.
Two senior professional electives are available for more specialization in a chosen area. In addition, more capable students may enroll in a five year joint BS/MS program. Students may also obtain a Minor in Mathematics by taking an additional eight credits of approved course work.
