University-wide Academic Awards

Outstanding members of UMass Lowell’s Class of 2024 were honored during an awards celebration as part of Commencement festivities. 

Student recipients of this year’s Chancellor’s Medals were honored for their scholastic and athletic achievements, service to others, and their efforts to foster a greater sense of diversity, equity and inclusion among students on campus and in the community. The award winners, along with student government leaders and student Commencement speakers, were recognized at the Chancellor’s Medal Celebration on Friday, May 10 at UMass Lowell’s University Crossing student center.  

Trustees Keys

The Trustee’s Key is the highest recognition accorded to baccalaureate graduates and is awarded to students who have completed all four years of baccalaureate study at the University with academic records of 4.0.

Chancellor’s Medals for Distinguished Academic Achievement

The Chancellor’s Medal for Distinguished Academic Achievement is presented to the student in each of the undergraduate colleges who has attained the highest cumulative average for baccalaureate study. The minimum eligibility requirement for this medal is a cumulative average of 3.6 for a minimum of 60 qualitative graded semester credits at the University of Massachusetts Lowell immediately prior to degree completion.

Chancellor’s Medal for Student Service

The Chancellor’s Medal for Student Service is awarded to members of the graduating senior class who have made outstanding contributions to the university (clubs and organizations, campus programs, leadership position, or other activities that improve the quality of life for students at the University of Massachusetts Lowell) during their undergraduate studies in day or online and continuing education programs.

Chancellor’s Medal for Community Service

The Chancellor’s Medal for Community Service is awarded to university students who have made significant contributions to the public good (volunteer efforts which benefit the Greater Lowell Community, other communities, or other organizations) and thus have brought credit to themselves, the university and the larger community.

University Scholar-Athlete Award

This award recognizes the graduating varsity athlete with the highest cumulative average. The 2024 recipient of the University Scholar-Athlete Award is:  Loucas Costeas (men’s soccer) in Finance & Entrepreneurship, Manning School of Business, with a 3.983 cum GPA.
