Abstract

My project is about the roles of women in society. The video is an interview in which women with Brazilian backgrounds share their opinions on the different experiences that women have within families, the job market, and their communities. The interviewed women also compare their ideas about traditional and modern roles while talking about how their vision of life has changed throughout the years.

I was interested in how Josie described a balance between working and being a housewife. Alexandra located power in traditional roles, suggesting that women hold a very strong power to influence society and transforms lives outside of professional careers. Marbie emphasized how mothers are often able to shape the characters of future adults by investing in their children's education and values.

My project is not meant to change women's opinions of their roles in society, but rather to show how every woman has a different view of their position within their communities based on their own personal life circumstances, privilege, personality, and beliefs.
