Permits for Persons with Disabilities
Persons with disabilities should apply for a disabled parking placard or license plate through their state’s Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), such as the Massachusetts RMV.
Individuals must also register with UCard, Access and Parking Services (UCAPS) so their UCard can be configured to provide access to campus parking lots. While a UMass Lowell parking hang-tag is not required for vehicles displaying a valid disabled license plate or placard, individuals must submit proof of their placard or plate to UCAPS (via photocopy, fax, or email).
Individuals displaying a valid disabled placard or license plate may park in any designated accessible parking space on campus.
In addition, these individuals may also park:
- At metered spaces without payment, and
- In any non-reserved, non-designated space within a permitted lot
Please note: Accessible parking privileges do not extend to reserved spaces or spaces otherwise marked for specific use. All vehicles must still comply with posted signage and University regulations.
