The Office of Student Life and Involvement offers Graduate Fellow positions designed to provide a well-rounded experience during your graduate program. Over two years, fellows will gain hands-on experience in programming, civic engagement, student staff supervision, large-scale event management, training development, orientation programming and Student Government Association (SGA) advising.

The Programming and Student Engagement Graduate Fellow will work with the Assistant Director for Programming to co-advise the Association for Campus Events (ACE), overseeing daytime programming and event logistics. Additionally, they will assist in advising more than 30 student organizations, providing program support and leadership coaching.

This fellow will also work closely with the Student Program Advisors, mentoring and assisting them in their responsibilities, which include:

  • Supporting student leaders with the event planning process
  • Facilitating club development programs each semester
  • Assisting with Engage event and purchase requests
  • Coordinating with the marketing team for event promotion
  • Providing information to the university community about student organizations, events, and resources
  • Hosting weekly office hours and assisting with in-office tasks such as poster distribution and operational support

The Leadership Graduate Fellow plays a key leadership role in shaping the student organization experience at UMass Lowell. This position is ideal for a graduate student passionate about student leadership, training, and program design. The Graduate Fellow will develop and implement a comprehensive vision for club development, oversee 20-30 student clubs and organizations, and directly supervise the Student Program Advisors (SPAs) who support student event planning and peer club advising. The Leadership Graduate Fellow will also be responsible for overseeing the new club process for Student Government Association (SGA) and the Graduate Student Association (GSA).

Additional Expectations:

  • Provide front desk support by assisting with daily office operations including answering student inquiries, managing event tickets and liability waivers
  • Support major events such as Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, Senior Week, Commencement Activities, Enrollment events, and other major events as needed throughout the calendar year
  • Support orientation throughout the summer which includes daytime and evening commitments
  • Evening and weekend availability may be required to support club events and leadership programs

Compensation and Benefits:

This position includes on-campus housing in a shared university apartment (single bedroom) and a meal plan during the academic semester.
