As Commonwealth of Massachusetts employees, UMass Lowell employees are required by the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission to disclose outside activities. UMass Lowell considers outside activities to be non-academic activities within your area of expertise that you take part in with individuals or entities outside the university. This includes any outside activities you take part in while on sabbatical.

UMass policies regarding outside activities and associated disclosures can be found on the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) Conflict of Interest Policies and Procedures page.

Outside activity disclosures are submitted via the Conflict of Interest module in Research Enterprise Solutions (RES).

Additional guidance can be found on the state of Massachusetts website including a Summary of the Conflict of Interest Law.
