The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) ensures compliance with NIH guidelines and Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL) standards by reviewing potential research conducted at UML that will involve recombinant DNA molecules and biologically hazardous materials that has potential to pose a health, safety, or environmental risk. The IBC meets monthly and assists UML’s researchers with designing safe and practical research methods.
