MIS Ph.D. Student Position

Manning School of Business at University of Massachusetts Lowell is accepting applications for its Ph.D. Program in the field of Management Information Systems (MIS) starting in the Fall of 2012. This 4-year full-time Ph.D. student position is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The students will receive full financial support, including stipend and tuition, as well as travel for conference presentations.

Responsibilities:

In addition to fulfilling the Ph.D. course requirements, the student will conduct high quality, state-of-the-art research in the areas of data mining, information privacy, business analytics, and health information systems.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. 
  • Fluent English verbal and writing skills. 
  • Adequate background in college-level mathematics including Calculus and Linear Algebra. 
  • Adequate computer programming skills, preferably in Java or C++. 
  • Students without a business/management degree will be required to complete business functional courses (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Operations, and MIS) as prerequisite or part of the Ph.D. study.
