Biosketch

As Associate Chief Information Officer for System Architecture, Steve is responsible for IT design and operations from the cloud, through the datacenter and to desktop and mobile devices to support student, research and administrative computing needs.

The Systems Engineering team ensures that critical datacenter and software services such as email, directory services, web technologies and vLabs virtual desktops and all of their underlying technologies are available and meeting the learning and research missions of UMass Lowell.

Tech Services is charged with providing superior customer service to university community members when they need assistance with technology in or out of their offices. Desktop PCs, laptops and tablets are all part of the Platform Services portfolio.

The Digital Learning Center team is responsible for delivering consistently excellent student computing options in support of the academic mission of the University.

Steve’s team prides themselves on providing superior customer support and advocacy. Steve has been recognized as a VMware vExpert and is active in several professional organizations, including leading the Boston VMware User Group. Steve maintains certifications in VMware, Microsoft and other technology platforms and architectures such as ITIL. Steve has been on campus since 1999 and has over 15 years of IT engineering and operational experience in industries ranging from manufacturing to legal and accounting services to higher education.

Steve is a double River Hawk, having received a BSBA with a concentration in MIS in 2004, and an MBA in 2017. Steve has been a recipient of a UMass Lowell Pillars of Excellence Award, the Gary Mucica Outstanding MBA Student Award, and the Chancellor's Medal for Student Service.
