All employees of UMass Lowell are required to complete a Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification by the first day of employment. Please visit AskHR for more information about I-9 completion, necessary documents, etc.
All I-9 forms are completed remotely, and an appointment is required to verify your documents as part of the federal employment authorization process.
Please follow the steps below to complete your I-9:
Step 1: Complete Section 1 of Form I-9
- This must be completed by the employee no later than the first day of employment.
- You can complete Section 1 online using the following secure link: Form I-9
Step 2: Upload Required Documents to Section 2
- Before scheduling your appointment, you must upload your unexpired, original documents that prove your identity and work authorization (e.g., passport, permanent resident card, I-20 with I-94, etc.).

Step 3: Schedule a Remote Appointment
- Once your documents are uploaded into Section 2, you must schedule a virtual appointment with a staff member who will review and verify your documents in real time.
- Schedule your appointment by using our online scheduler.
- Note: Do not schedule your appointment until you have completed Section 1 and uploaded your documents into Section 2.
