Teaching Labs: Where Classroom Concepts Come to Life

Gain hands-on experience in our exercise science and physical therapy laboratories, where classroom concepts come to life. Located in Riverview Suites, these modern learning spaces feature the same advanced equipment used in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, human performance centers, gyms and fitness facilities, and other clinical settings.

Exercise Science Laboratory

Our Exercise Science Laboratory is equipped with: metabolic carts; clinical treadmill; bicycle ergometers; electrocardiography equipment; blood lactate testing devices; vertical jump assessments; blood pressure assessment equipment; bioelectric impedance devices; skinfold calipers; handgrip dynamometers; resistance training equipment; and plyometric, speed, and agility training equipment. This is the primary location of our Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, and Foundations of Strength and Conditioning Laboratory courses, and is also used for the on-campus Physical Therapy Student Clinic.

Inpatient Laboratory

Our Inpatient Laboratory is equipped with: hospital beds; patient vital monitors; parallel bars; stairs; bodyweight supported treadmill system; various assistive devices; a Hoyer lift; and an overhead lift. This room is used to teach a variety of acute care physical therapy and inpatient management skills across numerous courses.

Therapeutic Modalities LaboratoryTM-labTM-lab

Our Therapeutic Modalities Laboratory is equipped with a variety of modalities and physical agents, including: electrical stimulation devices, therapeutic ultrasound devices, vasopneumatic compression devices, and cryotherapy and thermotherapy agents. This is the primary room for our Physical Therapy Intervention Lab courses, as well as our Anatomical Kinesiology Lab course.

Neurological Rehabilitation Laboratory

Our Neurological Rehabilitation Laboratory is equipped with a variety of devices used in neurological assessment and rehabilitation, including high/low tables and mats, mirrors, stability balls and balance boards, and various pediatric assessment tools. This is the primary room for our Neurological Physical Therapy Lab and Pediatric Physical Therapy Lab courses.

Orthopedic Rehabilitation Laboratory

Our Orthopedic Rehabilitation Laboratory is equipped with a variety of musculoskeletal assessment and therapeutic exercise modalities, including: high/low plinths, dumbbells/kettlebells, and resistance bands. This is the primary room for our Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy Lab courses, as well as the location of our on-campus Physical Therapy Therapy Student Clinic.

Dynamic Motion Laboratory

Our Dynamic Motion Laboratory is equipped with a Humac Norm isokinetic dynamometer. This space is used for our Anatomic Kinesiology Lab course, faculty research projects, as well as for patient evaluations in the Physical Therapy Student Clinic.
