Biosketch

Jacqueline Dowling is Professor Emerita in the Department of Nursing, School of Health and Environment at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Dowling began her nursing career as a pediatric clinical nurse at the University of Rochester Strong Hospital in upstate New York and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.

She has held positions as an assistant professor and nursing laboratory director at Boston University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Dowling has authored and co-authored several articles for nursing journals and textbooks as well as consulted for video and software publishing companies and nurse researchers on poster development.

She has presented at international, national, and regional conferences on sense of humor, received the UMass Lowell Department of Nursing teaching excellence award in 2003 and is a past president of the Eta Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
