The Percussion Ensemble, led by the Music Department's professor and percussion instructor, Jeff Fischer, is comprised of music majors whose primary instrument is percussion. This ensemble is highly esteemed and performances are always well attended. Concerts have included the finest avant-groove, neo-rhythmic percussion classics and beyond including Sininster Minister by Bela Fleck and Conduction, a structured improvisation created and conducted by percussion colleague, Andrew Fordyce. The ensemble has also featured world premieres by the Music Department's Composition for New Media majors. For more information, contact Jeff Fischer by email: Jeffrey_Fischer@uml.edu.

Percussion Ensemble for Non-Percussionists

As the title implies, this ensemble is primarily for music majors whose primary instrument is not percussion and counts for one of the "Diversity Ensemble" requirements for music majors. Performances have included the music of John Cage and Keith Jarrett, along with original compositions by the Percussion Ensemble. Some say this ensemble is the Music Department's best kept secret!  For more information, contact Jeff Fischer by email: Jeffrey_Fischer@uml.edu.
