Registering Your Bike or Scooter

Deter theft.
You will have a record of your bike or scooter if it is lost or stolen.
UMass Lowell Police will be able to contact you if your bike or scooter is found, recovered or presumed abandoned.
Help build the case for more and better bicycle and scooter accommodations on campus.

Fill out the online registration form and upload a picture of your equipment.
Visit the UMass Lowell Bike Shop with your equipment to verify the serial number and get your registration number and sticker.
Go ride! You’re done! The bike shop will notify UCAPS with your registration number and your equipment will be registered for the rest of your time at UMass Lowell.

E-Ride Responsibly

E-Scooters, E-Bikes and other electric motorized personal vehicles are becoming more popular at UMass Lowell (UML). It is essential for students, faculty and staff to operate these vehicles responsibly. Do not operate e-scooters or e-bikes inside UMass Lowell buildings. Park outside on designated bike racks. Safety Tips for E-scooters/E-bikes and Bicycles

Park outside on designated bike racks.
Ride primarily on the road with the flow of traffic, observe stop signs and traffic lights.
Utilize bike lanes and shared paths where possible.
Park or store equipment in ways that do not obstruct paths, exits, or limit access to public areas.

Wear a helmet when riding, every time!
Use a U-style lock, not a cable when securing to a bike rack.
E-Riders and cyclists are also highly encouraged to register their equipment.

Stop using your e-ride if you notice any problems with the battery: unusual odor, change in color, too much heat, change in shape, leaking, smoking, or not keeping a charge. Never leave your equipment charging while unattended.
Use only original devices, batteries and charging equipment that are listed by a nationally recognized testing lab. Always follow the instructions from the manufacturer.

Outdoor Charging and Parking Stations

Outdoor E-scooter/E-bike Charging Stations

Several charging stations for micro-mobility devices such as e-scooters and e-bikes were installed across campus in the summer of 2025. Visit the online UMass Lowell Campus Viewer and select the "micromobility" layer to view current charging locations. All charging locations will be added to the UMass Lowell online maps website by the fall semester!

Outdoor Covered Racks

Riders should park their e-rides outside on a designated bike rack. Covered parking can be found on the Campus Bike Resources Map.
