  • Name: Cynthia Pereira
  • College: Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences
  • Major: Nursing
  • Hometown: Boxford, Massachusetts.
  • Brief introduction about who you are, your role, and your academic focus:
Hi! I’m Cynthia, a nursing major and a peer leader of RHSA. I hope to support nursing students and help students have a positive and motivating learning environment.
  • Favorite hobbies: My hobbies are dancing, traveling to new places, and learning new nursing skills.
  • What is your favorite thing about UMass Lowell (UML)?
My favorite thing about UMass Lowell is the diversity within the student body. I love seeing new friendly faces and being able to connect with similar experiences.
  • Why did you choose to attend UMass Lowell?
I chose to attend UMass Lowell because it offered me strong academic programs while also providing a supportive and diverse community where I could grow both personally and professionally. UMass Lowell gives me opportunities to get involved in leadership roles like being a Peer Leader, which allows me to support other students while developing my own skills
  • What inspires you to support RHSA and/or first-generation students?
As a first-generation student, I know how overwhelming college can feel without guidance, especially with not having any family in college. Supporting RHSA allows me to help being a resource and create a sense of community for students trying to succeed in this journey.
  • Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself in your first year of college?
The biggest advice I would give to myself in my first year of college is to not be afraid to apply myself to new opportunities because it's also most people's first time being in college too. Exploring and putting your best foot forward is the best way to evolve as a student.
