The Faculty Legacy Awards recognize and celebrate the lasting contributions of UMass Lowell faculty members whose work has made a significant impact on the university, its students, and their disciplines. These honors acknowledge distinguished careers marked by excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership, as well as a sustained commitment to the UMass Lowell community.

Through these awards, the university honors faculty whose influence extends beyond their years of active service, shaping programs, mentoring generations of students, and contributing to the academic and cultural life of the institution.

The Faculty Legacy Awards include two categories:

  • Emeritus Status: Recognizes tenured faculty who have achieved the rank of full professor and have demonstrated exemplary service and distinction over the course of their careers.
  • Teaching & Clinical Faculty Laureates: Recognizes teaching and clinical faculty whose sustained excellence in instruction, mentorship, and student engagement has had a lasting and meaningful impact on the university community.

Together, these awards reflect UMass Lowell’s commitment to honoring faculty whose legacy continues to inspire and strengthen the university.
