International Employees

Below you will find information for international employees on employment eligibility verification, maintaining your legal status, traveling outside the U.S., taxes, and additional legal and helpful resources.

Please contact INTL_Scholars@uml.edu with any questions.

Within this section, you will also find separate pages on:

It is your responsibility to maintain legal status at all times and to report any significant change in employment before the change. Example of reportable changes include: change in job title, job duties, job location, number of hours per week, as well as change in supervisor or department. Any UMass Lowell issued work authorization only permits you to work at the physical UMass Lowell campus, under the conditions of your work petition. Any current international employee or prospective international employee can direct their work authorization and non-immigrant status related questions to INTL_Scholars@uml.edu

Update your US Address with USCIS within 10 days of each change as well as UML HR Direct. Be sure to keep your HR Direct Emergency Contact information current at all times.

Travel Information

Contact INTL_Scholars@uml.edu three weeks before any planned travel outside of the US. This will ensure that you are provided with the proper travel and re-entry documents. Below sites are intended to help keep you informed for any upcoming travel.

F-1 and J-1 employees should contact the International Office who issued you the Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 for all of your travel and immigration related advice.
